A 25-year-old man was admitted to a local hospital to be treated for burn injuries he sustained during a fire at a mobile home near a small Georgia town. Local fire crews continue to investigate what may have caused the mysterious blaze, which happened at a home located on the grounds of what used to be a junkyard.
Fire crews were tipped off about the fire just before 5 a.m. one day. When they arrived, they discovered the victim and another individual present just outside of the double-wide trailer, which was already engulfed in flames. The victim was transported to the hospital sporting what were considered first- and second-degree burns on his arms and legs. Emergency crews withheld the victim's identity immediately after the incident.
A fire crew from Hall County, in addition to a team from Banks County, was eventually able to beat back the blaze and put it out before any other damage could be done. Units were battling the fire for around four hours.
Upon investigating with local residents, crews were able to determine that the owner of the mobile home had moved out of state and had not lived there for roughly three to four months. Electricity, water and all other services had apparently been discontinued at the residence. Still, the home was the man's property and he is therefore responsible for its maintenance. If the blaze was triggered by a faulty piece of equipment, or something that could have been fixed by the homeowner, the victim could potentially seek monetary damages in the matter.
The home's owner did not have insurance on the trailer, and it is being classified as an uninsured loss.
